In order to aid my completion of the National Pokedex, I am going to beat this game. I thought, why not try out something fun? My rules: Can only battle with Flying types Exceptions: You can use your starter pokemon until you can catch a flying type, and you can use pokemon that are going to evolve into flying types You can catch any pokemon, just box them asap if they aren't flying type. You may have a HM pokemon on your team, but only when needed. It should be thrown off your team as soon as possible, if it is not flying type. You must attempt to obtain a flying type to replace your starter ASAP. If the flying type cannot attack with it's current moves, you may use your starter if needed.
HootHoot Lvl 7 Caught this Time Lord last night when I started this. I've ditched and boxed my starter, which was totadile. I am training HootHoot now along with Pidgey. Once they get a flying type move we'll enter Sprout Tower
Pidgey(Faith) Lvl 5 Caught this pidgey just now while training HootHoot on Route 31
I also suggest getting a Zubat from Dark Cave; Crobat is one of the best Flying-types in the game (except for Lugia and Ho-oh, of course.) Also, if I were you, I would ditch the Hoppip and get a Caterpie. Butterfree is extremely useful for the first half of the game, and if it starts to become too weak later on, you can always swap it out for a Mantine or Scyther.
Once you get to the National Park, catch a Scyther. It is very powerful, especially its 90 power Wing Attack, due to Technician. If you want to use legendaries, Lugia is a definitely a good choice, and catching Ho Oh later on is very helpful too. You should also consider Dragonite. By the time you get to the 4th gym I'd recommend Crobat, Scyther, Pidgeotto, Butterfree, Ledian/Dratini, and Noctowl. When you are at the E4, I'd suggest a team of Crobat, Scyther, Pidgeot, Lugia, Butterfree, and Dragonair. Before battling Red, you should have Lugia, Ho Oh, Dragonite, Zapdos, Scyther, and Crobat/Staraptor if you are willing to train it from lv 10 or so. Moltres shares the same type with Ho Oh and Articuno has bad moves so they are not that helpful (Scyther is stronger than Articuno).
Thanks for your input, MasterArceus! I have some ideas for my team already, and Dragonite is one of them. I may or may not use legendary pokemon at this point. Also, I'm going less for power and more for a challenge, which is why I use some not-spectacular pokemon along with some great ones! I beat Falkner with a little difficulty. I had a LOT of trouble with Bugsy, and finally just grinded my HootHoot until it evolved for some extra power. How I wish there were Audino. That scrubbing Scyther! I also picked up the Togepi egg and hatched it. There are so many good flying types, I can't use them all!

If you want a challenge, the aforementioned legendaries are probably too strong. Articuno can be used as a bulky attacker with Reflect, Light Screen, Ice Beam and Fly or Return. If you can get a Shiny Stone from D/P/Pt, definitely keep Togepi, but if you can't, Togetic isn't that good. However, Togetic is good if you want a challenge. Instead of Lugia, you should use Togetic/Togekiss, and a team for Red that will give a good challenge while not being too hard is Articuno, Dragonite, Togetic/Togekiss, Scyther, Pidgeot, and Crobat.
I'll be able to get a shiny stone in pokemon Pearl/Diamond. I am really just winging this *pun*, so I'll just catch whatever I feel like catching :/ I'll have my goods, I'll have my bads, I'll have my mistakes. But hey, that's why they call it 'Adventure' :D
As I headed through Ilex forest, I taught Skiploom Headbutt and met a Kimodo girl. Then, after training Ledian in the route before Goldenrod, I explored Goldenrod. I trained my pokemon in the Tunnel and the route north of Goldenrod. I also received a Spearow from the guy in the gate, but I don't know if I will use it or not. After a lot of training, I renamed some of my pokemon, and bought 5 X defenses and bought tm52 to teach Focus Blast to my Ledian. I beat Whitney on my FIRST try! I used the Xdefenses on Leef while fighting Clefairy. After a bit of trouble with it's Metronome attack, I defeated Clefairy! Miltank used rollout, which only damaged Leef a bit. Leaf used Focus Blast, and hit. Rollout again. Leef used Focus Punch and missed. One more rollout, and Leef would faint! Leef used Focus Blast- it hit!!

I think you should still write the Pokemon names. Some browsers are super slow so many people disable pictures. Adding New next to new Pokemon is helpful, but I don't think this is needed for new moves because people expect new moves every time you update. Also, I see a typo. Under Spearow(Kenya) Lvl 20 New, it says Leef. For Morty, Spearow/Fearow or Scyther will be very helpful since all of his Pokemon have very low defense. If you decide not to use any of them, raising Togepi to lv 22-25 and evolving it into Togetic (by happiness) will also help, 2HKO'ing Gengar with Extrasensory.
@ MasterArceus I have my whole team planned out in my head already ;) Okay, I'll keep the pokemon names, however in the little summary I may call them by their Nicknames.
So, I went through a bunch of routes, I trained to the east of Ecruteak City. ANYWAY, at the Ecruteak City gym... Noctowl one hit KOed both haunters, but then Gengar came. Gengar put Noctowl to sleep and used mean look so I couldn't switch out. In the end, Noctowl fainted. I switched out to Kite by accident, and Kite eventually fainted. Time for Kenya. Kenya got in a critical hit with Pursuit. Gengar put her to sleep. After using an awakening on her, Gengar put her to sleep again. Then, Kenya woke up and used Pursuit!! Gengar faints. Just one more haunter. Kenya get it down to yellow hp. Then, Haunter uses curse and dies. Wow. Next gym, here we come!

2nd update. After tons of training, healing sick amphardos, going to the safari zone, and failing against the Olivine gym, I defeated Chuck in Cianwood gym. Now, I am exploring the Union cave. After, I will go to the Olivine City gym :)
I invaded the secret team rocket base with lance, and beat the Mahogany Gym. The leader's Seel kept spamming rest FOREVER until Leef was knocked :( So I had to use Gyarados to deal with the "rest" of them.
Awesome! Gyarados is so high in level, your other Pokemon probably won't catch up to it until after the E4. Also, I don't recommend keeping Fire Blast for long. Gyarados's Sp Attack is super low so it won't do a lot of damage once the game opponents get around this level.
The thing is, gyarados can't learn any fire-type Physical moves. However, I suppose I could use Earthquake to deal with steel types. I will be teaching Gyarados a ton of great moves when I get to Blackthorn City.
Wow, this is interesting. Hope you continue it when you're ready! ^^

"... ... ...
So you're the latest challenger up against the Sunyshore Gym...
All right, I've decided! If I find you to be weak, I'm going to
challenge the Pokémon League. I'm all done with renovating the
Gym, so I don't need to be here."
NOTE:I accidently updated my previous update with this same thing, so I have lost the entry about beating Olivine gym and catching a level 50 magicarp. _____ I invaded the secret team rocket base with lance, and beat the Mahogany Gym.
