Okay, this is a place where me and other people go and write battles. Simple. A little like the Arena except no plot. If you can critic I'll greatly appreciate it and I hope you enjoy.
Battle 1: AVO vs Plato
AVO grunted as he walked through the forest. He was training ready for the up and coming tournament in which the toughest trainers was about to compete for the spot of top dog. To be fully ready though he had to train. AVO agreed to battle a trainer known as Plato, who had only been travelling for three years. AVO on the other hand had trained for six and was not about to lose to a 'child'.
Not too far from AVO though was Plato who was already at the battlefield. It was surrounded by trees while the sun glared down on the field leaving little shade. Fortunately Plato remembered his hat and was calmly waiting for AVO his opponent. At last AVO emerged from the trees opposite Plato. AVO looked around the field and inspected it. Plato made the first call.
“Hey are you AVO?”
AVO looked up and nodded.
“Plato I presume?”
“You know the rules right; it's five vs. five no substitutions.”
Plato knew the rules. He had studied them and decided which Pokémon he would use.
AVO nodded and then picked a Pokéball of his belt. Once upon a time he had to memorise where each Pokémon was on his belt. Six years had passed and he now knew where each Pokéball were on his belt and who was in that Pokéball. AVO threw his Pokéball in the air and a white light emerged and formed a Crobat who looked less than impressed with the look of Plato. The purpled coloured like bat with two weak feet but strong wings who was also ranked in the top ten for its speed flew high and waited for his opponent to appear.
Plato glanced at Crobat and picked his own Pokéball of his belt. Throwing his Pokéball into the air out came Electivire. The Electric type Pokémon standing at 1.8m tall grinned. The yellow fur and black strips cackled with electricity showing its power. It seemed that while Electivire had the type advantage Crobat had its speed.
The two glared at each other and Crobat who looked determined to win wore a scowl on its face while Electivire was smirking at Crobat. The two stared at each other for ten seconds before AVO decided to get things rolling.
Crobat, now alert was already flapping its wings sending of a whirlwind at Electivire who now looked surprised as he was automatically returned and another Pokémon was sent out.
Gengar who had taken Electivire's place looked around. Seeing the Crobat made the Ghost and Poison type get into her fighting stance. However Plato growled slightly.
“So that's what he's playing at... Gengar Shadow Ball!”
“Crobat counter with your own Shadow Ball!”
The two Pokémon formed black balls, Crobat formed his in his mouth while Gengar formed a black ball in his hands. The two quickly fired their Shadow Balls which cancelled each other out in the middle of the battlefield leaving a black cloud. This however could only give Plato the advantage.
Gengar shot off the ground and into the smoke; then on the other side of the black cloud she came out again only to hit Crobat into the floor.
“Knock it back with Shadow Punch!”
Crobat darted of the floor and went to attack Gengar with his mouth open ready to bite his opponent with incredible force, however was quickly countered by Gengar who slugged him in the mouth into a tree truck.
“Use Shadow Ball!”
Gengar, creating another Shadow Ball, fired it at the Crobat who was slumped at the bottom of the tree trying to get up. Once the Shadow Ball hit Crobat and exploded you could have guessed who the winner was.
“Crobat...” Crobat groaned knocked out.
AVO held up his Pokéball and returned the beaten Pokémon. Never had AVO expected to be one Pokémon down this early on. AVO looked at Plato.
“I never expected you to take Crobat out so quickly. I must admit that Gengar is powerful.”
“I never expected you to use Whirlwind either.”
“You've got to do what you've gotta do in order to get the advantage, unfortunately I didn't get the advantage.”
AVO grabbed his next Pokéball and quickly sent out his next Pokémon. This the light transformed into 1.1m tall Pokémon which looked as if it wasn't pleased to see Gengar. The Pokémon had a blueish-black body which also had a red crown and collar.
Plato groaned as he saw the Ice-Dark type Pokémon. This was one of the most common Pokémon trainers native to Sinnoh used. In fact, most of the high levelled Pokémon trainers had one, including Plato himself. He didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing.
“Keep up your guard Gengar, you never know what they'll pull!”
“Weavile, use Double Team!”
“Weavile!” he said with a grin as multiple figures of Weavile was placed around the field at an alarming rate. Gengar looked at the 8 figures and started to feel stressed at the fact they was so many moving so fast.
“Gengar keep calm and use Haze!”
AVO, slightly frowning at the move wasn't put off.
“Weavile Night Slash!”
The Weavile's all grinned and charged up their Night Slashes, making their claw glow a purple colour while Gengar used Haze, a huge cloud of dark gas now surrounded where Gengar once was. The Weaviles all rushed into the cloud, hoping to slash the Ghost and Poison type Pokémon. As soon as the Weaviles darted into the cloud Gengar came flying out the other side quickly and was jumped on by the real Weavile, pinning him down.
“Use Hypnosis Gengar,” Plato pleaded
“Weavile use Night Slash again!”
Gengar still struggling to get up couldn't do a thing as Weavile sat on top of him and slashed him in the face.
“Gar!” Gengar winced in pain.
“Weavile use Night Slash one final time and then jump of Gengar and use Dark Pulse!”
Weavile quickly slashed Gengar again with the dark type move, did a back flip and formed a ball of purple circles in both of his hands which he then promptly fired at the Gengar which was on the floor, warn down and knocked out. Plato sighed as he returned the Pokémon.
Electivire now sent out was looking around confused.
“You're against Weavile Electvire, keep you guard up.”
AVO looked at Plato and nodded at him, sending a signal that he was ready to begin the battle again. Plato understood and nodded his head in reply.
Electivire quickly gathered electricity inside of it and fired a bolt from the horns of its head at Weavile who in turn simply side stepped the bolt.
Electivire shot of electricity at Weavile who was jumping rolling and moving around the battlefield to avoid being hit. At last Electivire stopped and glared at Weavile.
“Weavile Ice Beam now!”
Weavile now grinning formed a light blue ball in its hands and fired the beam at Electivire who in turn blocked the beam with his arms. Seeming not to do much damage AVO changed tactics.
“Night Slash and retreat!”
Weavile's claw turned a familier purple colour and he darted forward at Electivire who was ready to move out of the way or counter...
Electivire tails came from behind him and grabbed Weavile, stopping the attack. Weavile now dangling in the air looked shocked.
“Weavile Ice Beam!”
Weavile who was forming a light blue ball in his mouth stopped suddenly as a scorching sensation filled his entire body. As it stopped it left a tingling feeling and Weavile was suddenly feeling that moving was very hard.
Electivire showing of his signature grin threw Weavile into the air, focused all of its electricity into one fist and punched Weavile in the stomach as Weavile made his way down from the fall, sending Weavile to the feet of AVO, knocked out.
AVO held the Ice and Dark types Pokéball and returned Weavile. Now looking slightly frustrated, sent out another Pokémon. Rhyperior.
The Ground and Rock type pokemon stampled on the the floor. Rhyperior had a roundish grey body shape with orange plates all around it.
“Oh no... Electivire use Focus Blast!”
“Counter with Rock Blast!”
Electivire almost as eager to take down Rhyperior as Plato was, had formed a large light blue ball of energy in its hands and threw it at Rhyperior who knocked it back with the rocks coming from Rhyperior's palms. However, the rocks didn't stop coming as Rhyperior continued the onslaught, making sure the rocks also hit Electivire.
“Counter with Thunder Punch!”
The oncoming rocks which seemed as if they was about to hit Electivire burst into pieces as Electivire Thunder Punched the rocks which Rhyperior fired. Soon enough though Rhyperior stopped.
AVO grinned, at last confident.
“Rhyperior, use Stone Edge!”
Rhyperior smirking crossed his arms and briefly glowing white for moment as two rings of glowing white orb circled his body. The orbs promptly turned into rocks as Rhyperior fired the rings at Electivire who by this time was getting ready to defend its self from the attack. The rocks hit Electivire, making Elecivire cry out in pain and breaking the defence. Once the attack had stopped, most of the jagged rocks had found their way to Electivire, making it hard for the electric type to stand.
“Use Focus Blast!”
“Stone Edge again!”
However Electivire who was more weakened than before took longer the charge the light blue ball of energy and by the time it was ready to be fired, Rhyperior had already fired his own Stone Edge attack and already brought Electivire to his hands and knees. After about 3 seconds after the attack had finished, Electivire was knocked out.
“Return Electivire, you did well.”
“So we're both down two Pokémon. My Crobat and Weavile and your Gengar and Electivire. I suppose you could say we're now on equal ground.”
Plato shrugged, ignoring AVO. Grabbing another Pokéball of his belt, sent out his third Pokémon. The red crablike Pokémon with a star on its head snapped its pincers, attempting to intimidate Rhyperior.
“Okay Crawdaunt, use Bubble Beam!”
“Rhyperior, counter with Rock Blast once more!”
Crawdaunt, raised both of his claws up and when he opened them, bubbles came pouring out, heading to Rhyperior who stopped them in their tracks with his Rock Blast.
“Crawdaunt try and get close with Swords Dance!”
“Rhyperior, use the opportunity to use Hammer Arm!”
Crawdaunt who had formed blue swords and was dancing around with them, getting faster and more aggressive each time the swords clashed was stopped suddenly by Rhyperior who's arm had glowed a bright white and ran at Crawdaunt, knocking it back. Plato grimaced at the brutal attack.
“Okay Crawdaunt, fight back with Crabhammer!”
“Rhyperior counter it with Stone Edge!”
Rhyperior again briefly glowed white before two rings of jagged rocks appeared not allowing Crawdaunt to get any closer than thought. Crawdaunt however, with new speed and power from his Swords Dance charged into the Stone Edge taking heavy damage but also allowing damage be done to the previously unhurt Rhyperior who was sent back inch's on his feet.
The two Pokémon was panting heavily but enough was enough for Plato, Rhyperior had to go.
“Crawdaunt, use Bubble Beam again!”
Crawdaunt unleashed bubbles from his claws in rapid succession however they was only dodged as Rhyperior dug into the ground, hiding and ready to attack. Crawdaunt and Plato was feeling nervous. Soon enough however Rhyperior showed itself by attacking Crawdaunt from below sending it into the air.
Crawdaunt, now falling was hopeless as it couldn't defend it self and once Rhyperior had used Hammer Arm while Crawdaunt was in the air, had left Crawdaunt knocked out. Plato's eyes widened in shock as he returned the Water and Dark type Pokémon. Frowning Plato snatched another Pokéball and unleashed a Pokémon which looked like a tortoise however had a tree and spikes on the shell. The Grass and Ground type roared.
“Use Leaf Storm!”
As quick as a Torterra can be, Torterra's tree on it's back glowed a light green colour as leaves shot out from it, hitting Rhyperior at an incredible force, unable to counter Rhyperior put it's arms up in attempt to block the incredibly powerful Grass type move. After the attack had died down, you could see that Rhyperior had fainted. AVO sadly sighed as he returned the Pokémon and grabbed another Pokéball of his belt with his is eyes closed. Opening them he sent out a Infernape. Infernape which had brownish red fur, a flame on its head which never went out and a white chest plate did a flip as it landed on the floor, smirking at its opponent.
Torterra who had pounded both of its front legs into the ground shook the entire forest however Infernape neatly dodged it by jumping on Torterra's back. Plato's face dropped. Torterra would have to get Infernape off. Fast.
“Infernape use Flamethrower on the tree!”
By the tree, AVO meant the tree on Torterra's which had created such a powerful Leaf Storm. Complying to its masters orders, Infernape let lose a powerful stream of orange and red fire to Torterra's tree, setting it alight and causing major damage to Torterra. Torterra now full of rage tried to shake Infernape off however Infernape held on tight.
“Torterra keep trying to shake him off!”
“Infernape Flamethrower again!”
It seemed to be a repeat performance. Torterra was shaking his body, trying to get Infernape of however Infernape was sending jets of orange and red fire at Torterra. He couldn't defend himself.
“Keep using Flamethrower!”
As Infernape was attacking Torterra, Torterra charged up his leaf storm and shot leafs from the flaming tree, knocking of Infernape but doing little damage. Little can be said otherwise for Torterra however as he was suffering from the effects of burn and the previous attacks. AVO was still smirking, Infernape had yet to take any major damage. AVO decided enough was enough and wanted to end the battle, ordering Infernape to use another Flamethrower. Infernape obeyed and once more, sent out a powerful Flamethrower attack, knocking out Torterra.
Grabbing his last Pokéball which he was allowed to use in this battle, Plato threw it in the air, unleashing a Staraptor. AVO laughed.
“Well, looks like I'm in for an easy win. Infernape, knock that thing out of the sky with a Flamethrower!”
“Dodge with Agility!”
Infernape again sent a powerful stream of fire at Staraptor who promptly dodged with agility and reappeared and disappeared around the field. Eventually Staraptor stopped in the air just behind Infernape out of view. Plato grinned and ordered Staraptor to use “Brave Bird!” Staraptor, eager to avenge the Torterra dived down and burst into flames. Then just before impact, opened them up and the flames was replaced with a blue aura. Infernape, turning around just in time to see Staraptor but not in time to dodge was sent flying across the field, knocked out from the powerful super effective move.
AVO frowned slightly at the outcome but was not put of. All he had to do now was to select a Pokémon appropriate to knock out the Staraptor. 'Piece of cake' he thought as he snatched a Pokéball from his belt and threw it in the air. In a burst of white light a Floatzel. The orange looking otter with a yellow float around his neck looked up and at the Staraptor above obviously unimpressed. Wanting to start the battle again AVO swung back into action. “Aqua Jet!” AVO called out.
Noticing AVO call out Floatzel who had by this time had surrounded itself in water and was shooting itself up towards Staraptor, Plato decided that enough was enough and he should start taking risks. Ordering Staraptor to use Toxic, Staraptors beak glowed a purple colour and shot out a purple gunk, hitting Floatzel, Floatzel glowed a bright purple before hitting Staraptor with a Aqua Jet, doing a decent amount of damage. Floatzel however once he landed on the floor, clutched his stomach as it began to feel the effects of Poison. Opening one eye as he winced in pain, he glared at Staraptor who was shaking its head because of the earlier Aqua Jet and was now ready to attack.
AVO gritted his teeth and commanded Floatzel to use Aqua Tail. Floatzel, now getting back up from poison damage, started to spin his tail faster and faster until water started to spiral around it, wanting revenge from the earlier status inflicting move Staraptor used, Floatzel jumped up high at Staraptor who, under Plato's command was going to meet up with Floatzel in mid air to use Close Combat. As the two met in the air, Floatzel did a flip, landing the Aqua Tail on Staraptor's head. Alive and Angry, Staraptor fought back with close combat against the powerless Floatzel who was being slapped, kicked and thrown to the ground. Slamming into the ground at an incredible force, Floatzel groaned as he go back up and noticed the Staraptor panting heavily from the Aqua Tail he used earlier and the Close Combat. Once again though, Poison attacked Floatzel, doing more damage that before and leaving Floatzel on his hands and knees for longer.
Plato was still gritting his teeth. He may look as if he had the advantage but he defiantly didn't. Staraptor was weak and her defence was down from the Close Combat. Plato noticed Floatzel on the floor and used it to his advantage, ordering Staraptor to use Ariel Ace. He was planning to do a lot of little damage and make sure that Floatzel didn't get the killer blow. Weak, Staraptor shot down towards Floatzel, white streaks surrounding it as it his Floatzel in the side and Floatzel was flown across the battlefield. Floatzel looking around could only see Staraptor flying back to its original spot. Floatzel looked at it, anger in it's eyes.
AVO not impressed once again was thinking of a plan commanded Floatzel to use Water Gun. Floatzel shot a stream of blue water at Staraptor who was too tired to dodge. Staraptor was hit with the Water Gun and sent down to the ground. Floatzel, wanting revenge obeyed AVO who had ordered the finishing blow – Ice Fang. Floatzel darted forward, his fangs showing, glowing white and seeming cold, they bite into the weak Staraptor. Finally, knocking out the Normal and Flying type Pokémon.
Plato smiled weakly as he returned the fallen Pokémon. It was a good fight however he couldn't stop Floatzel from dealing the final punch. As Plato returned Staraptor AVO walked up to Plato.
“Yeah, good match. I enjoyed battling Rhyperior.”
“Likewise with your Electivire and Staraptor.”
The two smiled at each other before walking off, wondering what else they would find.

Battle 2: Xylon vs Starbright
She moved her long wavy brown hair behind her ear as the dark clouds loomed overhead. Today she was at a bridge called Village bridge. She had come here earlier in the week to spend some quality time with her grandparents; after all, ever since she started on her journey she didn’t often have times where she would ever stop in and see her family. Now the Unova league had come to an end, she decided to spend some time in peace.
Arriving at the part of the bridge where no houses was located on, Starbright looked across the bridge, the clouds making the bridge look dull and miserable. As she waited for her opponent, a boy of 19, she thought back to yesterday in which the boy had challenged her to a battle while she was fishing with her Grandfather. The boy who had challenged her seemed to recognise her from the Unova league which took place only two months before and a surprised Starbright didn’t hesitate.
This boy was called Xylon Reget, former member of the Hoenn Elite 4 and saviour of Hoenn itself. Why wasn’t he currently in Hoenn? Because he was sick of it. Sure, it was beautiful and exoctic, not to mention his friends and girlfriend resided there, but he had grown bored of his responsibilities as a member of the Elite 4 and had let his equal, his girlfriend Rune, take his place. This had led to Xylon travelling to Unova, longing for freedom and adventure. Whilst in Unova, he’d caught 3 new Unova pokémon and had transferred 3 of his original team over, his 3 strongest. After weeks of training and travelling, Xylon had landed himself in the Unova league, in which he made it to the semi-finals and had lost out to an extremely strong trainer, who in Xylon’s eyes, had cheated. This was typical Xylon.
Now though, he’d decided to nip around Unova once more with speed before he returned to his duties in Hoenn. He had been about to leave Unova, but longed for one last battle, and had challenged a girl he’d recognised from the Unova league. Agreeing to meet her here, he now stared across the bridge at his opponent, Starbright.
Finally seeing the boy arrive at the bridge she decided to release her first Pokémon, her Galvantula, a hairy yellow and blue spider which was also a bug and electric type with speed to back itself up. Now smiling she called across the field to Xylon.
“So what are the rules?” Starbright asked.
“6 on 6, no breaks, no mercy. The first trainer to have all of their pokémon knocked out will lose the match. Any pokémon can be used, no matter their type. Deal?” Xylon stated. He looked at the Galvantula. Starbright had sent her pokémon out first. Bad mistake. He placed his hand on one of the 6 pokéballs on his belt, his lips producing a cheeky smile.
“6 on 6?” Starbright asked. “Can’t we have a break in between? After all I don’t believe this is official or anything...” Starbright timidly suggested. This was meant to be a friendly battle, but then again, Xylon did issue the challenge.
“It’s the way I roll, and have since the very beginning. Now, shall we begin?” His smiled remained intact as he pulled the pokéball from his belt and threw it up in the air, releasing his dear Flygon. Oh, Starbright love, you are in trouble now. Xylon chuckled to himself.
Frowning slightly at Xylon’s rules, she decided to just battle with them, maybe this could be a could learning curve for her; she wouldn’t know. However, seeing Flygon emerge her face dropped. The light green creature based of the dragon fly was flying in circles around Xylon as he grinned at Starbright. Shaking her head, she wanted this battle to begin. “Galvantula, start the battle of with a Flash attack!” Starbright commanded. Galvantula, emitting a burst of white from its body used Flash, blinding Flygon. Starbright still rolling ordered Galvantula to follow through with a Double Team as well in which Galvantula created copies of itself rapidly and they all started to run across the bridge.
“Well played,” Xylon said viciously through his gritted teeth. But not well enough. “Flygon, snap out of it, use Earthquake and take out all of those copies!” Xylon screamed.
Flygon shook his head for a few seconds before regaining the ability to see and shot down to the bridge, pounding it with an enormous amount of power with his tail, thus causing it to crack in many places, and many copies of the Galvantulas to disappear, as well as the real one being injured from the attack. Xylon merely smirked and congratulated his Flygon.
“Galvantula!” Starbright cried out as all of the copies disappeared and Galvantula was seriously damaged. Galvantula however was not out just yet. Galvantula forced itself up, proving his loyalty to Starbright. “Galvantula use Signal Beam!”
Xylon and Flygon’s eyes widened respectively as a beam coloured similarly to the rainbow emitted from Galvantula’s eyes powerfully. “Flygon, dodge-” the attack hit Flygon before he could even move and before Xylon could call the command for Flygon to dodge the attack. It had been all so unexpected. Flygon fell down into the water, created one of the biggest splashes the bridge had seen in years. Flygon was down under.
Xylon and Starbright moved to peer over the edge of the bridge in order to check who was currently winning. Seconds went by without a response from Flygon (or a ripple in the water), or even any sight of Flygon. However, just as Xylon was about to return his Flygon and announce his opponent was in the lead, the gigantic, green dragonfly emerged gloriously from the water as fast as lightning would strike and propelled itself into the sky, soon returning back down to the bridge to breathe a green essence all over Galvantula, and retreating back to its master. Xylon chuckled. “Nice one boy, now just watch as Galvantula suffers the effects of your Dragon Breath.”
After watching Flygon use a surprise Dragon Breath on Galvantula, knocking it out, Starbright smiled weakly to herself and returned the Electric Spider Pokémon to its Pokéball. “You deserve a nice rest Galvantula,” Starbright said as she clipped the first Pokéball to her belt and grabbed her next one. Throwing this one into the air, out emerged a blue Jellicent. The Pokémon which looked like a balloon with tentacles, floated in the air waiting for Starbright’s command. Seizing the opportunity, Starbright restarted the battle. “Jellicent, use Hydro Pump!”
It seemed to be a repeat of the previous turn, Xylon attempted to order Flygon to move only to be cut off by Flygon being hit by the powerful burst of water that had roared towards him. Flygon didn't take the attack well and crashed down onto the bridge, cracking it a little more. It was inevitable the bridge was going to collapse during the course of this battle, but Xylon ceased to care, he only cared out winning this battle, and so far him and Starbright looked like they were on even terms.
Xylon returned his Flygon, his smile dropping from his face and being replaced with a more serious, grim look. He gave himself a couple of seconds to think of which pokémon he’d be unleashing next, only to come up with the perfect idea. He knew he’d be leaving Sceptile until last, and so he released his most recent capture: Samurott. It was water type against water type, thus making things very interesting. “Samurott, get into the water now and use surf!” Samurott obeyed immediately, and as soon as he hit the water he summoned a wave so powerful and deadly that it crashed against the shores of the water and bridge, sending enough force onto it to sweep Xylon and Starbright from their feet and Jellicent into the water, where Samurott wanted it to be. Xylon and Starbright gripped onto the edge of the bridge, pulling themselves back up onto it.
Jellicent now in the water with Samurott was in its element - the water. However Samurott was also very confident in the new environment. Villagers on the riverside were now looking at the two powerful Pokémon who had interrupted their peaceful day. Starbright, looking down onto the river ordered Jellicent to use Energy Ball on the Water type Pokémon. A greenish blue ball of energy formed in Jellicents tentacles before firing at Samurott who promptly dodged. Not put off however, Jellicent tried again and this time gained a hit, sending Samurott flying across the river onto the river bank, out of the water. Starbright grinned. “Well done Jellicent, keep Samurott out of the water by using Energy Ball!”
Xylon noticed that this wasn’t going well for him, he knew he had to get back into the game. He may be drenched to the bone, but he didn’t care. He’d battled with shadow warriors to the death before, been raised from the dead, thrown from towers and lost friends. Being drenched was nothing compared to his previous encounters with danger and annoyance. His mind remained focussed on the battle, as he ordered Samurott to avoid the energy balls and get back into the water. Samurott did so, twisting and turning to avoid two oncoming energy balls in midair in order to return to the water. Xylon smiled. “Now, use slash!” Samurott did so without hesitation, propelling itself through the water vigorously using its limbs as propellers and approached Jellicent without mercy, aiming his horn for his opponent. However, the Normal type attack went straight through Jellicent and Samurott, confused, had its back now to Jellicent. Jellicent, turning around was ready to attack again as it launched two more Energy Balls in rapid succession of each other, hitting Samurott in the back and sent it flying across to the other side of the river on the river bank. Starbright grinned as she noticed Samurott struggle to get back up.
“No! How could I have forgotten? Jellicent is part-ghost!” Xylon cried out in shock as he watched Samurott faint.
Starbright continued to beam her grin. “You’re not really Semi-final material are you?”
Xylon gritted his teeth angrily, he was not going to stand for this. He returned Samurott and withdrew another pokéball from his belt. “Manectric, out you come! Use Thunderbolt on Jellicent!” Starbright’s grin immediately faded from her face. Before Jellicent could escape the water, Manectric had shot a bolt of thunder forth from his body and into the water, primed at Jellicent. The water lit up yellow and the electricity passed from particle to particle in the water, electrocuting Jellicent to near death.
Starbright watched grimly as Jellicent collapsed from the powerful electrical attack. Returning Jellicent, Brightstar noticed how powerful the electric attack was and could only assume that it received STAB. She knew her electric types and decided to send out her next Pokémon, Excadrill. As the dark coloured mole Pokémon appeared with steel claws. Excadrill growled at the foreign Pokémon from Hoenn. “Okay Excadrill, we know what to do, Drill Run!” Excadrill, ready, formed itself to look like drill and rotated its body as it propelled at Manectric at an alarming speed, ramming itself into Manectric and forcing it to cry in pain as it was fired to Xylon’s feet.
Manectric had had barely any time to avoid the attack, though he was still able to rise to his feet, though only just. He trembled where he stood before shaking off the pain and growling. Xylon smiled. “That’s my boy, now, use Giga Impact!” Giga Impact was a move Xylon never really used, but considering how if he left Excadrill standing at the end of this turn Manectric would probably meet his end swiftly. Manectric started out by sprinting at full force and speed towards his opponent, so fast that the wind started to create a loud sound as he streamed through it, eventually hitting Excadrill, sending him back to his master from whence he came.
Excadrill landed on its feet from the Giga Impact and grinned as he took little damage from the attack. Starbright also smiled at the lack of knowledge of Excadrill. Starbright called out, “You do realise Excadrill’s a Steel and Ground type right?” She laughed and flicked hair from her face before pointing at Manectric and commanding Excadrill to do a Swords Dance and then Brick Break. Xylon’s face dropped. He’d been an idiot in forgetting, once more, about a typing of a Unova pokémon. Excadrill, upon command, formed two blue swords in its steel claws and danced, progressively getting more feisty when the swords clashed together in the dance. After finishing the dance, Excadrill then went into its drill shape and rotated and quickly than before karate chopped Manectric with its steel claws, knocking out the Hoenn Pokémon.
Once again, Xylon was down a pokémon, though thanks to Starbright, he knew who he was going to send out next. The bridge however was starting to crack and creek evermore as the battle took place and the villagers gathered around, all curious to see the source of the whole disturbance. Snatching a pokéball from his belt, Xylon shouted: “Chandelure out you come, use flamethrower!” This was a terrible mistake, as you will see soon. Of course, the flames that emitted from Chandelure and stung and covered Excadrill, thus fainting him.The sheer weight of Excadrill and his collapse caused the bridge to start cracking even more. Due to its already weakened state from the battle, it almost instantly collapsed. Xylon, who’d seen this coming, leaped back towards the part of the bridge that contained houses, only to see that Brightstar had done so as well. He sighed in disappointment. Chandelure just levitated above where the bridge had once stood strong and soon made its way back to Xylon, looking proud of its accomplishment. The townspeople did not look happy at all.
Starbright was shocked, after all the generations of people that lives here she had to be the one to break the bridge. Her and that...that... ‘tool’ . She began to hurl insults at Xylon, saying how they had just wrecked one of Unova’s landmarks. The townsfolk also was shouting in anger. Starbright, now staring at the floating pieces of stone below decided it was time for another type of battle. “Hydreigon go!” she screamed in rage as she sent out the three headed dragon like Pokémon. Newly evolved, Hydreigon was ready to battle. Also levitating above the water like Chandelure, they was both even. Well, apart from the fact that Hydreigon was a pseudo legendary. Ready to fight Starbright instructed Hydreigon to use Crunch. Hydreigon, baring its teeth, glided towards the Ghost and Fire type Pokémon, attempting to crush it however was outsmarted as Chandelure moved to the side. “Keep it up, use Crunch until you hit it!” Starbright ordered as Hydreigon obeyed and began the assault on Chandelure.
Chandelure continued to attempt to avoid the attack with great success, constantly drifting from side-to-side as if he was having fun and playing with the Hydreigon. However, avoiding three heads at once was fairly difficult, which resulted in Chandelure retreating backwards towards Xylon, who was ignoring all the angry cries from the townspeople. “Chandelure, use Hyper Beam! Just keep it away from you!” Xylon cried. When saying ‘it’, Xylon was of course referring to the huge hydra that was looming ahead of him and trying to make a snack of his pokémon. Chandelure stopped once far enough away from Hydreigon and sucked in a tonne of air, powering itself up. “Say goodbye to Hydreigon,” Xylon smirked. Starbright looked shocked once more. Chandelure untensed and looked go of everything, beaming an intense orange stream of power, energy and light at the Hydreigon. It hit it straight on in the chest, thus causing it to plunge into the water.
“Oh no, Hydreigon!” Starbright called out as she watched the Dragon and Dark type plunge into the water creating a huge splash which crashed against the river. However, Hydreigon emerged from the depths, cut, bruised and worn out. Angry, he rose out of the water a glared at the Pokémon who had shot him down. Hydreigon wasn’t a pseudo legendary for nothing. Smiling, Starbright ordered Hydreigon to use Dark Pulse. Happy to oblige, a ball of purple circles was created in Hydreigon’s hands and was fired at the ghost and fire type Chandelure, exploding upon contact and sent Chandelure falling towards the cold water below.
Xylon realised he was down to his last two pokémon as he returned Chandelure to its pokéball before it hit the water. This looked rather ill for him. He unclipped another pokéball from his belt, kissing the pokéball and throwing it forth above the water. Out came a Bisharp, looking up at his opponent with a look of eagerness on his face. He landed softly on a piece of floating rubble. “Bisharp, wait for Hydreigon to attack and then dodge and counter with slash!”
Starbright was grinning, she was about to beat a Unova league semi-finalist! Sure this guy was a ‘noob’ when it came to Unova Pokémon, forgetting that Jellicent was a ghost type and the forgetting Excadrill was part steel but he had made it to the semi finals! She had lost in her first battle at the league. Although this was when she finally realised that the Pokémon she was training had a huge ground weakness. Now though, she was winning. Turning back to the battle, another Dark-Steel type Pokémon was out on the field. Taking the advantage that she was in the air and Bisharp wasn’t, she worked out her plan. “Hydreigon, use Sunny Day and then Flamethrower!” Hydreigon’s eyes and hands glowed a bright white lights as he send a beam into the dark clouds overhead. The dark clouds began to part to unveil a orange sun. The river now looked a little more peaceful as the sun reflected off the water. Hydreigon after using Sunny Day had now unleashed a powerful Flamethrower as a powerful stream of fire excited his mouth and bore down on the Pokémon, about to hit Bisharp, engulfing him in flames.
Bisharp’s face grimaced due to the pain, though he wasn’t going down that fast. He leapt into the water to avoid taking further flame damage. Xylon was stuck, he really didn’t know what to do, Hydreigon seemed to be invincible, completely invincible. Bisharp meanwhile was forming a plan in his own head. He had one, though it was risky, and depended a lot on whether Hydreigon could see him or not. He swiftly swam towards a piece of floating rubble, that remained afloat behind Hydreigon, and leaped onto it, instantly jumping and slashing at Hydreigon’s back. Hydreigon turned around at the Pokémon who had just attacked him. As Bisharp was still in the air from the attack, Hydreigon grabbed Bisharp in midair. Starbright was ecstatic at the position she was in.
“Finish Bisharp with a Flamethrower!” Starbright called out in glee. Soon enough, Hydreigon had let loose a stream of fire, even more powerful due to Sunny Day, at Bisharp, close range. Bisharp fainted in Hydreigon’s arms who threw the Pokémon at Xylon.
The mostly metallic pokémon crashed down in front of Xylon, who looked up in anger and worry at the Hydreigon. It was unbeatable, and his final pokémon was at a major disadvantage against it, considering how he couldn’t fly and most of its attacks were close ranged attacks. Xylon returned Bisharp with his left hand and reached down for the final Pokéball with his right. Unclipping it off of his belt, he sighed. This may have been his longest serving pokémon, but he still didn’t know if it was enough. The audience had turned from angry to transfixed, their eyes were glued to the battle. "Go Sceptile, use Bullet Seed!" Sceptile nodded and spread his two jaws open wide, propelling large, black seeds from it, all of which hitting Hydreigon’s faces, each hit sending him an inch back towards Brightstar. “Now, let’s finish this, Sceptile, use Leaf Blade!” Sceptile once again nodded slightly before leaping down onto a piece of the floating debris and making its way forward towards the hydra that was hovering above the water, still recovering from the previous attack. Sceptile’s legs moved with great speed, he leapt gracefully from one piece of debris to another before getting close enough to make one powerful leap forward, that leap that brung him ever-so-close to Hydreigon so that he could make his move. Aiming for its throat, Sceptile slashed Hydreigon with the blade that had grown naturally on his arm. Leaping back, Sceptile watched as Hydreigon dropped lifelessly into the water, creating a splash that was powerful enough to soak everybody on the river banks. The people who was still on the river banks was less that pleased.
Starbright looked in awe at yet another Hoenn Pokémon. She returned Hydreigon and then refocused on the battle. Grabbing her fifth Pokéball, she sent out her next Pokémon, a Leavanny. Leavanny cheered as she was sent out onto one of pieces of rubble in the water. Starbright, eager to finish and knowing that Leavanny was her weakest Pokémon, wanted to finish this sooner rather than later. “Leavanny use X-Scissor!” Starbright called. Leavanny jumped towards Sceptile with her arms crossed, glowing a light blue towards Sceptile who simply dodged out of the way with its incredible speed. “Razor Leaf!” Shouted Starbright, frustrated. Leavanny obeyed and the leaf on the top of its head glowed a light green as leafs were shot from it, which Sceptile also dodged. “Gah, keep using Razor Leaf, get it into the water!”
“Sceptile, buddy, word of advice, don’t go into the water,” Xylon laughed as he watched Sceptile mock Leavanny’s power by constantly dodging the leaves thrown at him. Xylon didn’t know what to do next, he was relaxed, he knew nothing major was going to happen just yet. Eventually, he decided to give Sceptile a challenge. “Sceptile, trap Leavanny in a leaf storm and then finish it with Aerial Ace!” Sceptile stopped and smiled, leaves from the river bank and village surrounding the bridge started to fly towards Leavanny, who was frozen due to fear. These leaves formed some sort of hurricane around Leavanny, large chunks flying from the leaf hurricane and hitting Leavanny, but it wasn’t enough, Sceptile’s next attack, however, would be. Sceptile leapt through the hurricane of leaves, cutting a pathway through it with his blades and whipped up some wind, slashing Leavanny with the wind as if it was a blade. Sceptile retreated. The leaves died down to reveal Leavanny floating on the water face down.
Starbright returned Leavanny. There was no surprise it was going to faint this battle but it was still annoying. Grabbing her last Pokéball she sent out Reuniclus. The green like blob levitating above Sceptile as the two stared each other down. The spectators were silent. The duo may have destroyed the bridge but they were making it up for the entertainment they were providing. Restarting the battle Starbright called out an attack: “Reuniclus fly high and use Future Sight!” Reuniclus flew up high so even Sceptile couldn’t hit it and its eyes glowed white before Reuniclus sent a beam of white into the now dull and gray sky. “Use Reflect!” Reuniclus’ eyes once again glowed a bright white before a yellow cube seemed to surround Reuniclus. Starbright smirked.
Xylon didn’t know what to do, but this was it, the end of the battle. It’d felt like the battle had taken hours, and Xylon grew tired of this. He knew reflect raised his opponent’s defense, so there was only one thing to do. “Sceptile, use bullet seed!” Sceptile nodded and smiled before firing an encore of seeds that flew like bullets at his opponent.
“Reuniclus, dodge it!” Starbright called out as she watched the seeds fire at Reuniclus. Luckily the Pokémon heard the command and quickly dodged, still levitating in the air. Sceptile looked up at Reuniclus with a frown on his face. “Reuniclus, use Psychic!” Reuniclus’ eyes flashed blue before Sceptile was outlined in blue, unable to move by itself. Smirking, Starbright ordered Reuniclus to throw Sceptile into the bottom of the bridge. Reuniclus, who could now control Sceptile using its psychic powers, threw Sceptile into the underside of what was standing of the bridge. Throwing Sceptile into the water, Reuniclus stopped using Psychic and let Sceptile climb out of the water himself, knowing that all they had to do was defend until Future Sight took effect.
“Right, screw this! I’m not losing now!” Exclaimed Xylon. “Sceptile, use leaf blade!” From his past experience with Reuniclus’, Xylon knew that their defense in general was rather low, so even with reflect up Reuniclus would take a fair bit of damage. Sceptile rovered itself to its feet and made its way over to Reuniclus (once again, by jumping from one piece of rubble to another) and leapt up, slashing its blade across Reuniclus’ body. Retreating back to Xylon, feeling rather proud of himself, Sceptile looked back to see that Reuniclus was still hovering proudly.
“You’re pathetic Xylon! You really think your Sceptile can hurt Reuniclus when his reflect defense is up? How did you get into the semi-finals again?” She shrieked. Xylon just simply smiled, all was going to plan. “Okay then Reuniclus, use Psychic again!” Starbright shouted, pointing a finger at Sceptile. Reuniclus’ eyes once again quickly flashed blue before a blue outline surrounded Sceptile. “This time cause Sceptile pain!” Starbright smirked. Xylon looked confused before Sceptile was shouting out in pain. Reuniclus was concentrating hard to just hurt Sceptile’s mind. Soon after though Reuniclus stopped and panted. Sceptile grabbed his head, obviously hurt.
Sceptile crumbled down onto his knees. Xylon once again smiled, it was time to strike the hardest. “Oh, you’ve pissed him off now,” Xylon smirked, looking into the eyes of Brightstar, who looked as confused as other. The audience had gathered closer, they wanted to see the outcome, who would win? “Sceptile, use Leaf Storm and end this!” Xylon screamed. Sceptile stood up, not weakly, but with strength, as if he’d been reborn. A light green aura surrounded Sceptile's tail as leafs shot from its tail and created a tornado, engulfing Reuniclus as leafs pummeled the Pokémon as it was stuck in the middle. After the attack had died down Reuniclus was on a piece of rubble, gasping for air.
“Reuniclus!” Cried out Starbright who wanted to have a closer look at the Pokémon but couldn’t. Desperate she called out to Reuniclus instead. “Are you okay, can you still battle?” Starbright asked. Reuniclus levitated weakly off the ground and gave a shaky thumbs up. “Alright Reuniclus!” Starbright cheered. “Now use Pain Spli-” Starbright started as a bright white beam of light from the sky interrupted them by striking Sceptile, making him fall to the floor on his hands and knees. “Alright! Use Psychic instead!”
“Sceptile!” Shouted Xylon. It was almost certain that this battle was over. One more attack on either side would end it. More importantly, one more attack and Sceptile was finished. Sceptile however had other ideas as he once again rose, this time he was supported by a bright green aura surrounding him. “Overgrow...” grumbled Xylon as he noticed that grass type moves were now boosted because of the Pokémon’s ability. “Sceptile, use Leaf Blade to stop that Psychic!” Xylon commanded. The leaf that had grown on his arm glowed a powerful green as Sceptile launched itself from the rubble he was on and slashed Reuniclus who was readying a Psychic attack. Reuniclus who was surprised by the sudden attack fell and splashed into the water.
Starbright’s eyes widened as she saw the faithful Psychic type fall into the water. Looking over the rail into the water she sighed in relief as the Pokémon climbed one of the last pieces of rubble and rolled over. It was clear that after a hard fought battle, Reuniclus had lost and Sceptile prevailed. Starbright returned Reuniclus and smiled as she watched Xylon do the same for Sceptile. The two looked at each from their sides of the bridge, the middle of the bridge gone. Soon enough though the audience clapped and was congratulating Starbright on a hard fought battle. Shrugging of the compliments Starbright ran towards her Grandparents house, hoping they could heal her Pokémon.
He watched Reuniclus fall and grinned. No way could the Pokémon survive that. Soon enough Reuniclus came out of the water and confirmed that it was knocked out. Smirking, Xylon returned Sceptile who himself was about to faint. Noting that Starbright had ran off, he too made his way from the destroyed bridge. However just before he could leave a man blocked the way and glared at him.
“I believe you was the one who broke the bridge?”
“Ye-yeah.” Xylon gulped. He didn’t know why but this man was scary.
“Well you’ll have to pay a fine,” the man said still staring at him. “Starbright will also have to pay,” he added.
“Yeah yeah,” Xylon sighed. “How much?”
Xylon grabbed into his bag and gave the man the money. Xylon wanted out before anyone else grabbed him and hurt him for what they did to the bridge...
