Hey there, to all of you coming to a forum for the very first time, and anyone else who's interested!
This was suggested by one of our members, as a way to help new members get on their feet. There are an awful lot of rules to be followed, and being in a forum this huge can seem overwhelming. The Administrators, the other Moderators, myself, and our fabulous mentors are here to help you! The list below is the mentors who you can choose from to be your guide in the Forums. Whether you need help with Pokemon or just general forum stuff, you can pick a suitable mentor based on what they know. Please know that everyone listed has been noted trustworthy and friendly. We don't bite! Note: You pick your mentor! The mentors will not choose the "newbies" they would like to mentor.
Also, you can ask to be mentored by someone who has already adopted another "newbie", but check their application to see how many adoptions they are able to make. When you've chosen your potential mentor, contact them using the link to their profile (their name is the link). PMing is the best choice. All "newbies" will be officially mentored for a month, until they're no longer considered newbies. At that point, mentors and their adoptees will be taken off the list of Newbies and Their Mentors. This does NOT mean you have to sever all contact with your mentor/adoptee. This is also a way to make new friends!
AzulKitten (myself) -General forum guidance --Hey! I'm one of the Administrators here at Marriland, and I love making friends. I've been here for over seven years. I am 19 years old and a sophomore in college. Although I don't play Pokemon, I still manage to have tons of fun here. I can help with directions, rules guidance, and almost anything not related to Pokemon. I am on the Forums a lot less than I would like to be because of school work. I check my Private Messages every day, but will not browse the Forums unless I have time to spend. ---I will be able to adopt 3 "newbies".
Ice_Dragon -Hello there! I am Ice_Dragon ~ I have been on the Marriland forums for 5 years and I can help with many things. ^^ I don't play Pokemon anymore, but I still have a whale of a time here! --I can cater to everything - you can come to me for advice on a problem, or if you're just simply bored and wish to chat. Maybe you're down and need a listening ear? Or maybe you might just wanna learn how to get started on your very first forum and make a good impression? Well, I am available for all that; and much more. :] No question is too insignificant/silly to me, and I'll always answer them to the best of my ability. Also, I treat all my friends as my best friend! It doesn't matter how long we've known each other. As long as you have a nice personality, I'll always treat you as my best friend. ;D ---I can mentor up to 3 newbies at any one time. :3
Flame_Blader1 - Heya guys it's Flame here, been here since the summer of 2008, gained Mod status along the way. And contrary to my username, I keep pretty calm and cool. -- Like most Moderators, I know about all the sections on the forums, but I specialize in Trading, Clubs, Battling as well as general In-game discussion regarding Pokemon. I also lead the Anime Style Battling League here at Marriland. But more than anything, I'm there to guide you on these forums, any help you need and I'll be happy to help out. ---I can help anyone who needs it, just send me a PM! I can help with the following:
- EV training or general questions about EVs
- IV breeding
- Soft Resetting for Legendaries
- General questions about Competitive battling
- Questions about Basic mechanics

hinafujishika -Hello new people, I'm Hinafujishika, but you can call me Hina. I joined roughly 6 years ago. I am a 17 year old Junior, and I love myself... and other people too!
--I specialize in being your friend, but I'm also capable in the fields of tournament management, clan leadership, tennis, pokemon breeding, in-game help, competitive strategy, anime, piano, general forum conduct, and just being someone to talk to. :) Due to school I cannot post on marriland everyday. I do my best to come on everyday to check my private messages, and to just keep up to date with everyone here. I become active on the weekends though.
---I can mentor two newbies at a time
I can help in the following Pokemon areas:
-Spin Off series games (XD gale of darkness, snap, Colosseum, stadium)
-Gen 5 and down
Renaki - Hello everyone, Renaki here. Call me Rena, Maki, Sheen, or whatever you wish. I've been here for about two years now, and I've gained plenty of experience around the site. I'm twelve, and although I'm younger than plenty of members on the site, I do believe that my knowledge is quite enough. I am less active than I used to be, but I am still on at least three times a week. I also love to meet new people who are potentially friends~
-- I'll help the best I can with anything. For Pokèmon, I can help with basic things, such as where to go in the main story, where items and such are located, good training spots, and little tidbits of information such as those. I can also assists with things required for two players, such as version exclusive Pokèmon and trade evolutions. I'm not as good as with breeding and battling, although I'm learning more and more.
--- Regarding other things, I could teach spriting (again, I'm still learning more advanced things like scratch spriting and animating... which I suppose will be necessary for X+Y), graphics (banners), learning the basics (like where things are), roleplaying, and participating in clubs (having been the leader of one before). Please, even if it seems like an outrageous question, don't hesitate to ask. ^#^
---- I can take up to two newbies to mentor.
Shyvy -Sup, my name's Shyvy, but feel free to call me whatever you wish. --I joined Marriland in the summer of 2011 and have some experience under my belt that I'd love to share with newbies. I'm knowledgeable in role-playing, games like TF2, LoL, Sanctum whatnot. I can help with 4th Gen competitive Pokemon, though I'm not the best. I'm also here if you want to just get the grasp of the different subforums and have a friend to talk to. ---My limit is 2 newbies.
These are the rules: 1) If you are not on the mentor list, you are not a mentor. 2) Mentors only accept newbies who are Regular Trainers or lower. 3) Don't ask to be mentored if you're an Adept Trainer or higher.
I am not taking mentor applications as of 4/19/12! Thank you for being willing to help out!
Hiya! I'm new and i need help on alot of the forum-related things. First of all, where on the forums can i change my profile picture? Second, how do i get a signature (this website also)? And finally, how do i get ranked? Any mentor will do
One more thing, i dont do e-mails, skype, hamachi, or any video chat, so if that restrains me, you dont have to give me a mentor
@Mareeplover: Welcome to the forums! Straight off, I encourage you to read the rules, which should get you on your feet and out of trouble (By the way, I've merged your two posts into one, because double posting is frowned upon. If you have something more to add, you can edit your post using the button in the upper right corner of your post). All the of the mentors listed are knowledgeable in the areas you asked about, so you can pick any of them. I recommend sending a PM to whoever you choose, which you can do by clicking on their names and then looking under "Contact _____."
