A few of us who knew Brenden ended up having a facebook group chat last night and we were considering a good way to make a tribute to him. I think the below summary of the chat can express the ideas that were discussed there better than anything I can write:
"Ok, it's been decided that collectively we will compile an album/collage of post cards. The post cards will be of something iconic from our locations, eg for me it would be the Sydney Opera House or for Andre it would be Big Ben. The idea is that it's symbolic of the Brenden's impact to his friends from all corners of the world. The post card can also contain a personal message as well, like signing it with your forum username or something. You then mail it to Johnny (The details are: Please PM Blues for the address) and from there he will compile it to give to Brenden's family. George (Bonkenhi) will also post this to the forums for anyone else who wishes to participate in this. Johnny hasn't specified a submission date, however he did briefly mention to send it by Christmas.
Also there was talk of a memorial page on the Marriland site, but we'll have to speak to dev about that. There was also talk of getting paps involved.
That's all we have for now, unless someone else wants to add something. So far everyone looks like they're on board which is good!"
If anyone else has any ideas etc. that would be a good way to pay respects to Brenden, feel free to put it forward. I personally think it'd be nice to make sure that the postcards reach Johnny well before the 20th of November.
Brenden was a truly pleasant guy. I feel it's completely unjust that he had to go through what he did.
