Sophia needed to get supplies for her bag, considering she was low on items such as the Full Restores. She casually walked into the blue-roofed building. As the automatic sliding door revealed the interior of the building, Sophia was amazed; there was a new shipment, meaning that the store had whatever she needed in stock. Sophia jumped for joy on the inside, but walked up to the cashier coolly. She placed the money down, taking about $2,000 Poke Dollars out of the $10,000 she was given to by her mother. The cashier handed her what she needed after Sophia had told him. He grabbed the Hyper Potion and the other medicines she needed for her Pokémon. As the cash was handed towards the cashier, Sophia gave a friendly smile, before leaving.
The paved streets of Goldenrod were not that busy that day. Sophia noted the lack of loudness in the city, which was a rare occurrence. Despite this, ever since the explosion at the League, Sophia had heard about the cityscapes developing signs of sadness and despair. However, Sophia put the thought out of her mind, and continued to walk across the gray streets, before noticing.
An all-too-familiar man with purple hair and the Gym Leader, Whitney, were in the corner. The man held out a Poké Ball, while Whitney held her ground. Overhearing a small bit of their previous conversation, Sophia thought about what she could do. She could either help Whitney take down the guy who was hassling her, or just keep on walking. Sophia's mind told her to go with the latter option, but her conscience told her to go with the first option.
"Gah, conscience wins again..." Sophia sighed, before running up to where the Gym Leader and the purple-haired man was. Sophia stopped in front of Whitney, while the latter recognized her former challenger. Whitney clapped in excitement, before taking out her own Poké Ball. Then, Sophia mentally facepalmed at the rest of the civilians in the city, who were simply walking past the Gym Leader and the man. Well, it was just another excuse for her to hate humanity.
"Let's go, Lewis!" Sophia called out her Furret from its Poké Ball, by throwing it into the air. The ball bounced on the paved road, releasing a brilliant white light, that summoned the Pokémon to the area. The Pokémon looked ready to battle, as Archer smirked.
