    Name: Joseph Maxwell Pierce Jr.
    Gender: Male
    Age: Seventeen
    Date of Birth: August 17th
    Hometown: Goldenrod City, Johto

Appearance: Joseph stands at exactly six feet, with a mess of medium length light auburn hair atop his head, a complexion of lightly tanned and blemish free skin, and a dark grey, almost black, set of lively eyes. His usual outfit consists of a simple teal coloured short sleeved t-shirt worn under a plain white sports jacket, which is regularly left unzipped, except in colder weather, and a pair of loose fitting grey jeans.

Being a bit of a clean freak, Joseph likes to keep his clothing in perfect condition all of the time, the exception being his shoes. They are a pair of tattered old white tennis shoes that he has owned for years and that he considers lucky. Joseph also owns a black beanie, which his father bought for him when he finally decided to pursue his dreams. He keeps the beanie, and the rest of his possessions, in a black shoulder bag, which he wears slung over his shoulder.

Personality: Friendly, inspired... clean, these are just a few words that you could use to describe Joseph Pierce. He’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever met, perhaps because he’s been through so much pain in his life and felt so much loss. Life is supposed to be hard; he knows that, so he doesn’t want to make it any harder with stupid things like anger and hatred.

Still, there are things that even Joseph can’t help but get mad about. Filth, for instance. He hates things being dirty and will avoid any activity or place that he deems unclean. On the rare occasions when he, or any of his possessions, gets dirty you can expect him to pull out one of his sanitary wipes and clean like his life depends on it.

Even with all of the anger and dirt in the world, Joseph never loses sight of his dream of becoming a published author. He reads almost every day and has torn through countless books in his lifetime, name a book and you can be sure he’s read. If he hasn’t, you can be sure he will.

History: Joseph was born in Goldenrod City, to parents Joseph Pierce Sr., a newsreader for Johto Radio, and Marianne Pierce, a manager at the Goldenrod Department Store. He was the first born in a set of twins, his brother Jacob being born a few minutes after him. As a child, life was pretty average for Joseph, the most exciting thing was when people recognized his father’s voice from the radio and would want an autograph from him.

Seeing his father held in such high regard inspired Joseph to want to make something of himself one day. Joseph tried many hobbies over the years to find something he was good at and made him happy at the same time. He finally found that in writing and Joseph declared that one day he would be a published author. Although, at the age of fourteen, Joseph’s dream had to take a back seat.

Jacob was killed in a hit and run while on his way home from school. Joseph had been walking mere metres behind him, reading a book, when a car sped around the corner and clipped his twin brother. They rode to the hospital in an ambulance, Joseph held Jacob’s hand in his own the whole way there, but, when they arrived, the doctors said there was nothing they could do and Jacob was pronounced dead.

A few weeks after the accident, Marianne became very depressed and didn’t even want to get up in the morning. Joseph dropped out of school to take care of her, while his father worked twice as hard to make up for his wife not working. Joseph still wrote on occasion, but it became much less frequent, as looking after his mother was a twenty-four hour job. Three years later, Marianne died of a brain aneurysm, which had gone unnoticed because her poor health was thought to have been caused by the depression.

After Marianne’s funeral, Joseph’s father told him that he was free to head out into the world and pursue his dream of becoming a writer. Joseph thanked his father for the opportunity and began packing immediately. Finally, after three years of heartache, his dream was back on track.

Marc caming running up the route with Bulbasaur not far behind. They had fallen behind back in Viridian City while they bought items and had to ask around to see where their new travel buddies had gone. Finally they reached the others, where Paul and Vanya were talking to a new guy, named Mason. There was also a girl nearby. Marc didn't know who she was either.

"I thought I'd never find you," said Marc with a smile, finally able to catch his breath.

Marc stood by and watched as Paul invited Vanya to join them in going to Viridian City. He turned to Bulbasaur to assess is injuries. "How you felling, buddy?" he asked, getting down on one knee for a closer look.

Bulbasaur looked up at Marc and rolled his eyes, suddenly he began glowing a light green colour and his injuries faded away. "Bulba!" he called happily, now fully restored.

Marc laughed. "Oh right," he began, scratching the back of his head, "I forgot about Synthesis." One of Bulbasaur's parents had the move Synthesis and, in turn, had passed it along to him. It came in very handy during situations like this.

Marc turned back to Paul and Vanya. "I guess I don't need to go to the Pokemon Centre," he said with a laugh, "But I could use a few supplies."

Marc flopped to the ground and Bulbasaur did the same. With the help of the other trainer and his Charmander they had managed to fight off all of the unfriendly Pidgey, but it had taken a lot out of them. "My name's Marc," he said, in reply to the boys question, "This is Bulbasaur." He patted the tired Pokemon on the head, to both acknowledge him and to praise him for doing such a great job.

Marc turned back to the boy and smiled, "And, what's your name?"

Marc woke with a start when he heard the loud screaming coming from behind the tree he was sitting against. His Bulbasaur was also awakened by the noise. "What was that? he asked, looking at the Seed Pokemon.

Bulbasaur didn't even acknowledge Marc's question, he was too busy staring at something. Marcs followed his Pokemon's eyes to where the sound had come from, that's when he saw something he couldn't believe. A boy, about his age, was standing next to a Chrmander as a flock of Pidgey came speeding towards them. He looked like he was frozen in fear.

"C'mon, Bulbasaur!" said Marc, jumping to his feet and running over to the boy. Bulbasaur wasn't far behind. Marc ran straight past the boy and issueed an order to Bulbasaur, "Vine Whip!"

Bulbasaur didn't miss a beat, he leapt in front of his trainer and let out two long green vines from the bulb on his back. The two vines hit the first few Pidgey square in the beak and caused them to fly off in the other direction. But there was still more of them coming.

Marc turned to the boy and yelled, "Don't just stand there! Get your Charmander to use an attack!"
