  • Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Animated Shorts!

    • By Marriland 3/27/2013 11:06:01 AM

No, I'm not talking about the shorts you wear — that'd be silly! — I'm talking about short animated teaser episodes showing off the world of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity! Pokémon has finally released them in English to help get you excited about the new Mystery Dungeon game.

The first video, shown above, shows the basic premise of the game, with a human turned into an Oshawott who is then awoken by a Pikachu with ambitions to create a Pokémon Paradise.

The second video takes you further into the game, shows off several of the game's characters, and also introduces you to the Magnagates. It may contain some spoilers, though, but nothing too major at all and I would say it's still fun to watch even if you haven't gotten that far in the game yet.

Definitely check both out, and be sure to stay tuned, because I'll be including more coverage of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity later in the day!

  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity released in North America!

    • By Marriland 3/24/2013 6:17:34 PM

The day is finally here, folks! That's right, those of you in North America can now pick up the newest game in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity! Gates to Infinity is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS and features a whole new adventure in the world of Pokémon, where you, the player, are a human transformed into a Pokémon and have to save the day while also building a Pokémon Paradise.

You can buy the game at most major retailers as well as the Nintendo eShop as a digital download. The MSRP is $34.99. Not only that, but from now until April 30th, you'll be able to download the Poké Forest DLC dungeon for free on the Nintendo eShop. It will cost $2.00 after that. You can find out more about the extra content on the official website.

If you're looking for help getting through the game, I'll be working on a walkthrough with screenshots over the coming days, as well as a video playthrough to assist you in your adventure. Additionally, there's a Gates to Infinity forum available on the Marriland Forums for you to discuss the game, although please note, there may be spoilers inside!

But hey, if you picked up the game today, who did you choose as your main character and who did you choose as your partner? Come on, don't be shy, let us know in the comments!

  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Demo available now!

Can't wait to play the newest game in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity? Or perhaps you're just on the fence about coughing up the MSRP of $34.99 to buy the game? Well, either way, from March 7th to March 24th, those of you in North America can download a free demo of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity from the Nintendo 3DS eShop!

The style of demo is very interesting in the fact that you actually start a new game, just like the retail version of the game, and are able to play through the first several dungeons, as opposed to being thrown into a random scenario or two to evaluate the gameplay. Better yet, when you buy the game once it is on sale (either at retail stores or through the Nintendo 3DS eShop), you can pick up right where you left off in the demo, as it will carry over your save data along with your stats and items! That's very convenient, because you don't have to worry about getting attached to your team only to have to start fresh.

You can play the demo version 30 times total before you'll be unable to play it again. Putting your 3DS into sleep mode by closing the screen is a way to make the most out of your play limit, although with the game being released only two and a half weeks away, you probably won't be hitting that limit beforehand.

The game is set to be released on March 24th in North America, May 17th in Europe, and May 18th in Australia and New Zealand. No word yet on when the demo will be available outside of North America, but I would guess probably sometime around late April to early May.

Pokemon.com has updated earlier this morning with a big update: they have officially unveiled the newest evolution of Eevee, Sylveon! This new Pokémon was recently revealed in the Japanese CoroCoro magazine by its Japanese name, Ninfia, although we now can see its names in all of the major languages. Additionally, the update contains screenshots of Sylveon in battle, as well as a video showcasing its moves!

While its height and weight have been confirmed as 3' 3" and 51.8 lbs. respectively, its type and how you obtain it are still shrouded in mystery.

Here are some screenshots of Sylveon in action:

Additionally, today's European Nintendo Direct broadcast has confirmed the release date of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity for Europe: May 17th! Still no word yet on the Australian release date, though.

  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity revealed; US Release Date of March 24th

    • By Marriland 12/20/2012 11:04:36 AM

Previously named Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth in Japanese, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity has been officially announced on the Pokemon website, along with a release date: March 24th, 2013! Keep in mind that this date is for the United States; international release dates have not yet been announced, although we will keep you posted on the release dates for other regions as well.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity mixes up the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon experience by forgoing the usual personality test to determine which Pokemon you become and instead allows you to simply choose your main character from one of five Pokemon: Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott and Axew. You then choose your partner from one of the remaining four. However, it adds impressive 3D graphics to the mix as well as the ability to team up with other players over local wireless, allowing you and your friends to explore dungeons together.

One additional new feature is the introduction of Magnagates, which are mysterious entrances to new dungeons that can be entered by using the camera on your Nintendo 3DS to scan various real-life objects.

Take a look at some of the screenshots revealed from the English version, and be sure to check out the official page for it at Pokemon.com/MysteryDungeon!
