Mega Blaziken is the Mega Evolution of Blaziken, introduced in Pokémon X & Y. It Mega Evolves into Blaziken through the use of the Blazikenite Mega Stone, which is not available during normal gameplay, but is held by the first Wi-Fi distribution of Pokémon X & Y, a Torchic that holds the Blazikenite.
Mega Blaziken remains a Fire/Fighting-type, though is said to gain additional Attack while also changing its ability to Speed Boost, raising its Speed by one stage between each turn.
Well, just one day after the CoroCoro leaks, we have tons more information on the newest feature of Pokémon X & Y: Mega Pokémon!
It has been confirmed that Mega Evolution lasts only for a battle and requires a specific Mega Stone item based on the Pokémon's species, such as the Blazikenite for Blaziken's Mega Evolution or the Lucarionite for Lucario's Mega Evolution. The Blazikenite will not be available during normal gameplay, meaning you'll need to receive it from the Torchic distribution that has been confirmed for online distribution on October 12th.
Here is the official artwork for Mega Blaziken and Mega Lucario, which was just revealed.
The Mega Evolutions have been confirmed to increase stats and change abilities when they Mega Evolve. The Mega Evolution lasts only for the duration of the battle.
Not only that, but the other three new Pokémon have officially been revealed, complete with their English names (and other languages as well, on the official website).
Bunnelby is able to use Dig and can have the Cheek Pouch ability, which enables the user to restore HP whenever it eats a berry in battle. Dedenne learns the new Electric-type move, Nuzzle, which both paralyzes and damages the foe. Skiddo is capable of learning Leaf Blade. You are also able to ride Skiddo in certain places to hop over ledges and fences.
Not only that, but the newest Gym Leader has been revealed, too: meet Korrina, the Shalour City Gym Leader.
Her Gym is shown to involve roller skates in order to solve the puzzles within. What type of Pokémon she uses is currently unknown, although she does hold the key to Mega Evolution. The Tower of Mastery, also featured in Shalour City, has another connection to Mega Evolution.
Details about the new Super Training have been revealed, which allows Trainers to train their Pokémon in various stats in a sort of virtual training regimen. This will affect Pokémon's Effort Values and should hopefully make the Effort Value mechanic more easily accessible to newer players, while also hopefully being much more fun, too. In addition to Super Training, there is another mechanic called Core Training that sounds as if it allows Pokémon to passively train by equipping special training bags that are earned from Super Training regimens. You'll also be able to track a Pokémon's progress with the Effort-O-Meter.
Lastly, here's a video showing some of the new Mega Evolutions in action:
I'll have the X & Y pages updated with this new information throughout the day with plenty of screenshots and the like, so be on watch for it!
Shown above is one of the new pages leaked from the September issue of CoroCoro, revealing a huge change in Pokémon and evolution in general for Pokémon X & Y: Mega Evolution. You can see Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, and Mega Absol featured above, although those are not at all the only Mega Evolutions available.
As shown to the right (click the image to see it zoomed in), there are a total of six new Mega Evolutions revealed, although surely with more to come. The "Awakened Mewtwo" that was featured in the recent movie is officially confirmed to be Mega Mewtwo, remaning a Psychic-type while changing its ability to Insomnia. Mega Mawile and Mega Ampharos can also be seen. Mega Mawile is confirmed as being a Steel/Fairy-type, while also confirming that Mawile has indeed changed its type to Steel/Fairy-type as previously rumored. Mega Ampharos is an Electric/Dragon-type and gains the ability Mold Breaker.
A new Gym Leader, Koruni (shown to the left), is said to have something to do with the secrets of Mega Evolution.
On top of that, three totally new Pokémon for Pokémon X & Y have been revealed:
The first Pokémon to the left is Meekuru(pronounced May-eh-kuru, like the baaing of a sheep), which is the pre-evolution of Gogoat. The middle Pokémon shown above is a Normal-type rabbit named Horubii. It has either Pickup or the new Cheek Pouch ability (which has no known effect at the moment). Lastly, there's a new electric rodent in town: Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon. It, too, has either Cheek Pouch or Pickup for its ability. Keep in mind that all three of these names are their Japanese names and will almost certainly be different in English.
It has also been revealed that a Torchic with the ability Speed Boost will be given away over Wi-Fi from October 12th, 2013 until January 15th, 2014 for Pokémon X & Y. This Torchic comes with an item called "Blazikenight", which is said to have something to do with Mega Evolution. So far, this has been confirmed only for Japan, but it is likely that other regions will have a similar distribution.
All and all, it looks like some pretty darn big news for Pokémon X & Y, although with the Pokémon World Championships taking place starting tomorrow with the Last Chance Qualifier and an exciting episode of Pokémon Smash airing over the weekend, it's likely that this isn't even all the news that's going to be revealed this week, so stay tuned!
